Sequins & Subways

Celebrations are in order y'all! Today is my sweet friend Rachel's 23rd birthday! Rachel and I grew up in the same hometown back in North Carolina but did not meet until last February when we were both applying for the same job within our sorority. As luck would have it, we were 2 of the 3 women chosen from our state to be a Traveling Leadership Consultant and I am so thankful for that. Over the past few months Rachel's friendship has grown to be more and more important to me and I am so thankful her sweet self is in my life. It's not everyday you find someone you can exchange hair curling pictures with at 8 o'clock in the morning!

For a few months now, Rachel has been holding in a pretty big surprise and today she can finally announce it! She has landed this amazing job in New York City and will be moving from the Carolina's to the North in just two short months. Not only am I excited for Rachel to begin a new career and her life in the big apple, but I am excited that she has finally decided to join the wonderful world of blogging! Her first blog post went up this morning over at Sequins & Subways and I would love for y'all to hop on over and show her some love! So once again, Happy Birthday Rachel! May 23 be your best year yet!

Disney in 6 Hours

Last Thursday I had the opportunity to take a little side trip from work and got to spend 6 hours at Disney World! Yes, I know what you are thinking...only 6 hours? But let me tell you, so much can be accomplished at Disney World if you go at the right time of year and have a trusty sidekick: aka someone who is a season ticket holder and knows basically everything about the parks! So on my afternoon off, my sweet friend Sam and I traveled to Orlando and spent the late afternoon and night at Magic Kingdom. You would think after becoming an "adult" the magic of Disney would be lost, but in a sense I think its even more magical because for that one day you get to be a kid again.

There was hardly anyone in the park and the longest time Sam and I had to wait for a ride was around 15 minutes. Several of the rides we just walked right on with no wait! At one point during the night we were just walking around and I literally filmed a video to show how much of a ghost town it was. So a word to the wise: if you ever want to take a trip to Disney go on February 27th! We entered the park around 4:45 and left at 10:45 but got to experience so much more than I could have imagined. Here is the break down of our adventure together. (Quick shout out to Sam for putting up with all my picture taking as I was just excited to use my new Cannon Rebel!)

Walked down Main Street

Had our picture taken in front of the castle with none other than Mickey in the background

Ate a cinnamon roll the size of our faces at Gaston's

Experienced one of the newest additions to the Magic Kingdom: Storybook Circus

Rode "It's a Small World" plus 8 other rides!

Watched the evening show up on the castle

Another picture with the castle because you can never have too many right?

Saw a model of the Liberty Bell

Ate popcorn while watching the electrical light parade

Said goodbye to quit possibly one of the best days on record at Disney!

Shout out to my favorite person in the world (aka Sam) for taking me on this little adventure and teaching me all the insider tricks to use in the future when I return!

February in Pictures

Of all the social media in the world, Instagram will always be my favorite! There is something about seeing life through pictures that makes my heart just smile! I have always been that girl who literally takes a picture of everything and had scrapbook supplies from the time I was 10; scrapbooking turned into my crafting obsession which my dad thanked me for years down the road when my entire dorm room was filled of craft supplies! With the short month of February quickly coming to an end, I wanted to do a little review of the month in pictures! Come follow along with me on Instagram to capture a glimpse into my life daily :-)

Jacksonville Weekend

Do y'all ever have a weekend where you don't want it to end because you had so much fun? Well, that is how I felt about this past weekend. Let me start off by saying that over the past week I completely fell in love with the city of Jacksonville, Florida! Not sure what I had pictured in my head that it would be but after spending the past 7 days there, I would not mind if I called it home one day :-) So here is a little weekend review of what I got to experience.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early to head down to the river front and shop for local produce at the Riverside Arts Market. Until this experience I had never been much of a "farmers market" type of girl. I was always the one that wanted to stay in the car when my parents went to one back home but I can safely say after experiencing how fresh the food is and not to mention cheap, I will be doing more local shopping like this when I get home. The girls and I were able to pick up lots of fresh produce and test taste some yummy barrel olives!

After our shopping was complete, we headed down to the river front to soak up some sun and take in the beautiful views. These pictures do not do the area justice but oh my goodness, it made me want to hop on a boat and float on the river all day!

Upon our search for a local lunch place, we were referred to the Mossfire Grill and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Our nachos were yummy to the tummy and with all the beautiful weather we were able to enjoy our food outside on the second story patio!

Even though Saturday was so much fun, Sunday my heart could not stop smiling. If you've been reading on here for a while, you all know that my mom is a breast cancer survivor so breast cancer awareness is very important to me. The ZTA chapter at University of North Florida and myself got up at 5am to head into Jacksonville for the 26.2 with Donna; Finish Breast Cancer marathon. Our job was to be cheerleaders on the bridge at the mile 25. We had the most beautiful view out over the bridge and got to spend 7 hours cheering on marathon runners from all over the country. Let me just say, if I ever get fit enough to run a marathon I'll be coming back to Jacksonville to run with Donna!

My Sunday finished with my last meal in Jacksonville before moving down the coast and getting the chance to see my sweet sorority sister and fellow TLC Julia who is from California. Our paths have not crossed since training in August and I'm so thankful I got to see her!
